English version for my new friends:
One thing for sure: Italian food is a success everywhere!!!
I and Gordo miss all the food from Caxias and Bento!!! That’s why the dinner at Maggiano’s last Saturday was especially delicious since it remember our roots.
This restaurant is very traditional here and its slogan is “Litlle Italy”.
The food is really good! I ordered a whole grain pasta with meat sauce (very italian!) and Gordo chose the Carbonara pasta with Lobster… good too. To drink I opted for the white wine and him for the beer…
The best of all was that we went with several other couples!!! Marcela (my Colombian friend), her husband Francisco (carioca), their son (Marquinhos). There were also Marie and Andrew (a very cool american couple), Lorena (Mexican), her husband and their sons.
It was a “talkative” night…. English, Portuguese, Spanish, “gauchês” and “carioquês”!!! But the flavor was italian …. and with regard to taste, we all spoke the same language ;)
It was lots of fun! And in the end we even received a free dessert because of some “mistakes” the waiter did… nothing bad, but it was very nice that he gave us a “little gift”.
Ah…. the dish that I chose was on promotion: I paid $12,75 for the pasta and could choose another one to take home!!! I chose the gnocchi and guaranteed our Sunday’s lunch… ehehehehe.
The other dishes were about $20. The bill was about $70,00 for each couple, but it really worth it!!!
